When we heard that the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, was visiting Manila to attend the ASEAN Summit we got excited. There was buzz in the air as the visit signaled important things to come for the members of the ASEAN and India.
Little did we know we’d get to actually meet him.
Early November, AIM received an invitation from the Indian Embassy in Manila. Ambassador H. E. Jaideep Mazumdar had organized a reception for the Indian Community in the Philippines. The Indian Community in AIM (students, alumni, and professor) was so excited to meet the famous personality NaMo.
The event was held at the Marriott Grand Ballroom. An entourage of nearly 25 from AIM made it to the event. Around 1,200 Indians gathered to meet the Prime Minister. We had never seen so many Indians under one roof here in the Philippines.
After a long wait, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived. Indian Ambassador, Jaideep Mazumdar delivered the opening remarks.
The Prime Minister then patiently stood for photographs with everyone.
And then came dream come true for many to hear NaMo live. The audience cheered and clapped for him.
The evening ended with some delicious Indian snacks. This was definitely an amazing experience. I’m happy that the Indian Embassy of Manila extended invitations to the Indians in AIM.
